Students snap up Clinton tickets

By Public Affairs

Overwhelming student demand for tickets to the Feb. 24 President Bill Clinton address overloaded the campus’s online system today (Thursday, Feb. 18), as the supply of student tickets was depleted within five minutes, campus officials reported.

Tickets for Wednesday’s Zellerbach Hall event were made available to UC Berkeley students-only starting at 7 this morning. Faculty and staff tickets will go on sale online Friday, with any unsold tickets being made available to students at noon Saturday.

Campus officials apologized to those students who were unsuccessful in their efforts to access the online ticket system at 7 a.m. The high demand overwhelmed the system during the first step of the registration process, when large numbers of students sought to access the CalNet system to verify their status as current UC Berkeley students.

Campus technical staff redistributed the load and many students were able to proceed through the authentication process on to the site to get tickets.
