What you think about UC Berkeley

By Public Affairs

If you have opinions about UC Berkeley — and who doesn’t? — the Office of Public Affairs wants to hear them.

All Berkeley staff and faculty members are invited to take part in a research effort aimed at improving communications with various campus audiences, from current staff, faculty and students to alumni and business leaders. Led by the Public Affairs office, the so-called perception study is the first since 1999.

“We want to better understand how our stakeholders view the university and what words they use to describe what makes Berkeley special,” said Claire Holmes, associate vice chancellor for public affairs.

Under Holmes’ direction, staff recently completed the qualitative portion of the study, conducting interviews with some 200 people on- and off-campus. Now comes the quantitative portion, consisting of an online survey that takes about 15 minutes to complete.

King Brown Partners, an independent research firm, is helping to manage the survey and ensure the results are validated and confidential.
