Campus reps to meet with Gill Tract occupiers

By Public Affairs

Representatives from UC Berkeley and the group occupying the university’s agricultural research fields on the Gill Tract in Albany will meet tonight (Thursday, May 3) to discuss a voluntary end to the encampment.

In advance of the meeting, Berkeley Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost George Breslauer and John Wilton, vice chancellor for administration and finance, have issued a new open letter to the encampment’s neighbors.

In related developments, Keith Gilless, dean of the College of Natural Resources, has issued a letter about the occupation to the college’s faculty members, and the chair of Berkeley’s Academic Senate, professor Bob Jacobsen, addressed issues raised by the protest in comments to the senate’s spring divisional meeting.
