In the first in a series of planned “fireside chats” with Berkeley students, Chancellor Nicholas Dirks hosted ASUC President DeeJay Pepito and 17 fellow undergraduates at University House on Monday for light refreshments and informal discussion. As members of bridges Multicultural Resource Center — a coalition of five student-initiated and -run Recruitment and Retention Centers and affiliate organizations — the undergrads work toward recruitment and retention of students of color at UC Berkeley by addressing issues related to race, campus climate and admissions. Dirks’ next chat will be with graduate students.
