Celebrated mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli, described as “triumphant, exhilarating and downright unforgettable” by the San Francisco Chronicle, is returning to Zellerbach Hall at UC Berkeley this spring for two concerts showcasing works from her Grammy Award-winning album Sacrificium, Cal Performances announced today (Tuesday, Jan. 13).

With longtime accompanist Sergio Ciomei at the piano, Bartoli will be singing the program for the first time in the United States on her three-stop West Coast tour.

The recital marks her 10th engagement with Cal Performances. She received the first Cal Performances Award of Distinction in the Performing Arts in 2009.

“I first met Cecilia Bartoli in Chicago in 2001. She gave a recital with Daniel Barenboim at Orchestra Hall, and it was an unforgettable experience,” said Matias Tarnopolsky, executive and artistic director of Cal Performances. “I am delighted to welcome her back to Cal Performances.”

The concerts will take place Tuesday and Thursday, March 31 and April 2, at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Thursday, Jan. 22, and are available through the ticket office at Zellerbach Hall, (510) 642-9988, and on the Cal Performances website. Ticket prices start at $45 and are subject to change; half-price tickets are available to UC Berkeley students. More information about discounts is available here.
