‘Richard Pryor’ author Scott Saul up for PEN literary award

UC Berkeley English professor Scott Saul, who has has won critical acclaim and widespread attention for Becoming Richard Pryor, his deeply researched look into the life of one of the nation’s most brilliant comic minds, has been longlisted for a 2015 PEN literary award.

Saul, who worked on the book for more than six years, was longlisted for the PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography, given annually for a distinguished biography published during the previous year. The prestigious award comes with a $5,000 prize.
