John Wilton, UC Berkeley’s vice chancellor for administration and finance, welcomed Alejandro Toledo, the former president of Peru, to campus this week.
Toledo recently wrote a book, The Shared Society, in which he outlines a plan that he says would greatly improve Latin America’s economy. In the book, Toledo describes a Latin America where most of the region’s 40 percent poor and marginalized people are incorporated into a rising middle class and democratic institutions work more effectively.
