KQED Science seized on Halloween as a good reason to visit UC Berkeley’s Museum of Vertebrate Zoology and make a video of its flesh-eating beetles quietly doing their thing: cleaning the bones bound for the museum’s huge collection of preserved critters.
The insects are dermestid beetles, and they do their work every day of the year, spooky holiday or not, to help scientists keep a record of vertebrate species on planet Earth. We’ve shared KQED Science‘s video here:
