San Francisco, UC Berkeley make pitch in Smart City Challenge

By Robert Sanders

UC Berkeley and the city of San Francisco have joined forces to create the nation’s first ‘smart transit’ city, with plans to build a model transportation system that is safer, cleaner, more accessible and more affordable. In this video, the team shows what it envisions and why San Francisco should win U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge and $40 million to bring the future of shared, electric, connected and automated vehicles to all San Franciscans, providing opportunities to climb the economic ladder and connect with neighbors.
