For Linda Williams, the end of a 27-year UC journey June 23, 2015:

Linda Williams launched her UC career in 1988 as an administrative assistant, rising through the ranks to become associate chancellor at UC San Diego, associate president of the UC system and finally, in 2008, Berkeley’s associate chancellor. She retires at the end of this month.

A scholar with expertise in human interaction with online information, economics and public policy has been named UC Berkeley’s University Librarian. Jeffrey MacKie-Mason comes to Berkeley from the University of Michigan, where he is dean of the School of Information.

Sokhom Mao, a data specialist at the California Social Work Education Center, has been named a White House “Champion of Change,’ a program that recognizes Americans doing “extraordinary things to make a difference” in their communities. Mao will travel to Washington to be honored on Tuesday, May 19. The event begins at 9 a.m. Eastern time and will be livestreamed.
