University gardens for all seasons

There is nothing lifeless or lonely about winter gardens at UC Berkeley. Bright green cabbage, rainbow chard, lemons and fragrant herbs are ripe for harvest. Leaves in fall colors still glow on many trees, and roses bloom. Year-round, the gardens are abuzz with research and class projects. Students relieve academic stress by weeding, harvesting food for their hungriest peers and planting seeds for a new season. Glimpse six of these gardens here, to see what makes each one unique, and then visit them for yourselves.
