WHAT: A phone briefing for reporters on two new reports being released tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 10) from the University of California, Berkeley’s Center for Labor Research and Education on how the U.S. Senate and House health care proposals will impact Californians.

The first report looks at eligibility for Medicaid and subsidized coverage for Californians who are without health insurance, are covered in the individual market or are enrolled in unaffordable, job-based coverage. The second report analyzes health care costs under each of the bills for California families that would qualify for subsidies in the proposed health insurance exchanges.

WHERE: The call-in number is (605) 715-4920. The access code is 383-8394.

WHO: Reporters will hear from Ken Jacobs, Labor Center chair and lead author of both studies; and Jon Gabel, a senior fellow with the National Opinion Research Center, a public policy and social science research organization affiliated with the University of Chicago.

DETAILS: For embargoed copies of the new reports, contact Janet Dawson at the Labor Center at (510) 642-9187, or jgdawson@berkeley.edu.
