He also will learn about work that students and faculty are doing to improve education in the United States and to improve health and reduce poverty worldwide.

WHERE

Zellerbach Hall, UC Berkeley

DETAILS

Gates will be talking to students at five universities: UC Berkeley and Stanford University in Palo Alto on April 19; the University of Chicago on April 20; and Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on April 21.

Gates brief talk at UC Berkeley will be followed by 30 minutes of questions from the audience.

The Gates Foundation, with a stated goal of helping all people lead healthy, productive lives, focuses on improving health in developing countries and giving people the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. It aims to ensure that all people especially those with the fewest resources have opportunities to succeed in school and life.

Based in Seattle, Wash., the foundation is led by CEO Jeff Raikes and Co-chair William H. Gates Sr., under the direction of Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett.
