Traffic changes at the Hearst Mining Circle

By Carol Ness

Starting today, Tuesday, Jan. 17, vehicle traffic on the Hearst Mining Circle at the east end of campus will be one-way, counter-clockwise only.  The change is being made because of construction of a new Campbell Hall, now underway, according to Facilities Services. Until the construction is complete, these will be the rules of the road:

  • All vehicles entering campus at East Gate must turn right at the Mining Circle and go around it before heading down the hill on University Drive.
  • University Drive from LeConte and Evans halls to Pimentel and Stanley will be one-way only, eastbound (uphill).
  • Oppenheimer Way. which runs between Gilman and LeConte, will be one-way only, northbound.
  • Much of the parking in the area has been moved to Oppenheimer Way.

Changes also will be made to pedestrian pathways. Signs will provide direction.
