By Public Affairs

UC Berkeley won triple honors for its efforts to go green at the 2012 California Higher Education Sustainability Conference held recently at UC Davis.

PowerSave Green Campus and Greening the Greeks took home the award for Best Student Energy Efficiency Program for their TGIF-sponsored Green Cup competition, which pitted fraternity houses against each other in a contest to reduce electricity and natural gas use and to educate students. <>

The campus also took home awards in the Best Overall Sustainable Design category for the Energy Biosciences Building and in the Best Monitoring-Based Commissioning category for Davis Hall.

The awards were part of the Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Awards, awarded annually to projects from the CSU and UC systems.
