Space shuttle Endeavour buzzes campus

By Robert Sanders

Prime vantage points ranging from Edwards Stadium and Sproul Plaza to the Lawrence Hall of Science were packed with campus staff, faculty and students this morning in anticipation of the once-in-a-lifetime flyover of the space shuttle Endeavour as it made its final trip atop a Boeing 747 along a meandering route to retirement in Los Angeles.

At around 10:15 a.m., cameras and cellphones snapped shots of the jet and piggybacking shuttle as they skimmed the treetops and the tip of the campanile. See below shots taken from the Lawrence Hall of Science, the Haas School of Business and the base of the Campanile, plus video from Edwards Stadium. The shuttle continued on to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, then down the coast to Los Angeles, where it eventually will go on display at the California Science Center.
