On a swing through the Bay Area, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit spent the afternoon at UC Berkeley Thursday, meeting with Chancellor Birgeneau and taking part in the signing of a technology-sharing agreement with the Haas School of Business.

Prince Haakon, a Berkeley graduate, also heard a presentation on the recently established Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study , a collaboration of the College of Letters and Science and eight Norwegian academic Institutions that takes its name from a Norwegian who was an early trustee of UC Berkeley and has several campus landmarks named after him.

The Peder Sather Center was founded to strengthen ongoing research collaborations and foster the development of new ones between Berkeley and Norwegian academic institutions
