Ron Coley appointed vice chancellor at Riverside

By Public Affairs

Vice Chancellor John Wilton made the following announcement in a message to the Berkeley community today:

Dear Campus Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the departure of Associate Vice Chancellor for Business and Administrative Services Ron Coley.  Pending the approval of UC President Janet Napolitano, Ron will join UC Riverside as the Vice Chancellor of Business and Administrative Services. Ron’s last day at Berkeley will be June 30.

Ron has been an amazing colleague. During the three years that I’ve worked with him, he has made very significant changes to all of the units within Business and Administrative Services (BAS). The most transformative change has been in the area of procurement, where we’ve merged our operations with UC San Francisco to generate significant cost savings. In addition, he played an instrumental role in the creation of the campus’ crisis and emergency management systems and made a strong commitment to organizational collaboration and staff development. I know I speak for all of us when I say that his leadership and dedication will be deeply missed at Berkeley, but I’m glad he’ll remain within our broader UC community.

I will work directly with the managers in Business and Administrative Services to develop an interim and long term plan.

I have no doubt that Ron will be an asset to the UC Riverside team — they are lucky to have him. Please join me in wishing Ron the greatest success in his new role.

Sincerely,

John Wilton
