For the seventh straight year, UC Berkeley is one of the top schools in the country for sending alumni into Teach for America’s teaching corps.
Berkeley placed second among the top 20 “large universities” ranked by Teach for America, for contributing 71 recent graduates into the 2014 program, placing just behind the University of Michigan, which sent 73.

Teach for America is a national corps of recent college graduates who spend two years teaching in under-resourced public schools. Candidates are recruited from hundreds of college campuses and enter a development program while they are still students This is the seventh year it has released a list of schools who send the most recent students into its program.
According to Teach for America’s news release, 2014’s cohort is the most diverse teaching corps in the program’s 25-year history. One-third of its 10,600 members are the first in their families to attend college, nearly half were Pell Grant recipients and half identify as people of color.
