Media Advisory: California 2014 election revisited at two-day forum

ATTENTION: Reporters covering politics, government, campaign finance and ballot initiatives

WHAT: “California Votes: A Postmortem on the 2014 Election,” a two-day forum hosted by the University of California, Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies to bring together scholars, journalists, political practitioners, researchers and students to examine the state’s November election.

The session will focus on the gubernatorial campaign, initiatives such as Berkeley’s soda tax and county bans on fracking, campaign financing, the top-two ballot, a record-low voter turnout and national implications of California’s 2016 election.

WHEN: 1-6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30

WHERE: Hotel Shattuck Plaza, 2086 Allston Way, Berkeley

WHO: A full list of participants is available online. The keynote speaker will be Amy Walter, national editor of the Cook Political Report, who will look ahead to the 2016 election in an address from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31.
