Power back on after outage empties chemistry buildings

By Public Affairs

A power outage at midday Tuesday briefly emptied four chemistry buildings on the UC Berkeley campus. The buildings reopened after about two hours.

The four  — Latimer, Hildebrand, Tan and Pimentel — were evacuated as a precaution, when the outage shut down building vents at 12:36 p.m., according to UC police and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. The power was back on and the buildings reopened by 2:35 p.m.

Facilities Services was investigating the problem.
