Actively engaging in Healthy Schools Program linked to reduced student obesity June 3, 2015:

Schools that participated more in the nationwide Healthy Schools Program saw greater reductions in student obesity, says a new report by UC Berkeley researchers. However, schools that simply enrolled in the program and did not actively participate saw no changes to student health. The researchers evaluated 281 California schools enrolled in the program from 2006 to 2012.

UC Berkeley astronomer James Graham is leading a coalition of planet-searchers in an effort to more efficiently find habitable planets around other stars, and perhaps extraterrestrial life itself. The project is one of 16 funded by NASA’s new NExSS (Nexus for Exoplanet System Science) initiative.
