The Graduation Gown Lending Project, launched last year by students, is on a mission to acquire enough caps and gowns to outfit all graduating seniors who can’t afford to rent regalia. Donations helped triple the program this year.

Music department graduates won’t be marching to the traditional sounds of “Pomp and Circumstance” this year, but the event will be marked by celebratory concert performances on Hertz Hall’s recently installed Noack concert organ.



Commencement throngs celebrate with Class of 2014

More than 21,000 crowded the stands of California Memorial Stadium for Saturday’s campuswide commencement. Highlights included a keynote address by U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi and a rousing rap on the senior experience by student Kaila Love.

The campus held a festive event May 16 to honor six students from Sub-Saharan Africa earning master’s degrees this month — the first graduating cohort from UC Berkeley’s partnership with The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program.
