The formal inauguration of Nicholas Dirks, UC Berkeley’s 10th chancellor, began Friday morning at International House with public symposia on the three pillars of Dirks’ administration — undergraduate education, the role of the global university, and research and innovation, followed by a noontime rally on Sproul Plaza and a late-afternoon investiture ceremony.
Dirks, Bakhle and a full house of well-wishers celebrate the moment.
Student choral groups (the California Golden Overtones, UC Men's Octet and Decadence) conclude the ceremony with "Hail to California."
