On the evening of Jan. 14, UC Berkeley Chancellor Nick Dirks participated in a live, online question-and-answer session for alumni and parents.
Prior to the event, alumni, parents and friends of the University of California submitted more than 1,000 questions online — not only from the Golden State, but from across the U.S. and around the globe, from Panama to Australia.
Six issues that rose to the top of the collective agenda were selected for the 45-minute program. They included UC Berkeley’s public character and mission, its global presence and activities, access and affordability, state support for public higher education, building a research and innovation ecosystem in and around campus, and intercollegiate athletics.
Watch the entire Q&A session, moderated by Dan Mogulof, executive director of communications and public affairs.
