The fifth annual Berkeley Communications Conference this week brought hundreds of campus communicators together at the ASUC Student Center conference space for a day of honing their skills and sharing their knowledge. Two keynote speakers took the stage — communications professor Patricia Sanders from the University of North Alabama, who discussed equity and diversity on campuses, and Jeremy Adam Smith of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, who spoke on the science of emotions and their role in storytelling. And a dozen workshops covered topics such as using metrics to drive content and working effectively with the media to get campus stories out.
After lunch, a handful of communications staff received awards for their print, video and digital work. Here’s a photo slideshow from the conference.
