WHAT: A presidential debate watch party hosted by the Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS)
WHERE: IGS Library, 109 Moses Hall
DETAILS: The 90-minute debate taking place at Hofstra University in New York will feature presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump answering questions from moderator Lester Holt about the economy, national security and the nation’s future. It is the first of three such face-offs scheduled between the presidential contenders from the Republican and Democrat parties.
The Center on Civility & Democratic Engagement at the Goldman School of Public Policy has joined the National Institute for Civil Discourse in calling for debate standards to apply to moderators, candidates and the audience to ensure that the 2016 presidential debates are fair, informative and civil.
The debate will be broadcast on all major television networks, and websites for major cable news channels and C-SPAN. It also will be live-streamed on Twitter.
