Practitioner-scholar joins Staff Ombuds Office

Mediation expert Bridget Regan has been named the new associate ombudsperson for the Staff Ombuds Office.

Bridget Regan, an expert in mediation and conflict resolution with wide experience as an academic as well as a practitioner, has been appointed the new associate ombudsperson for the Staff Ombuds Office.

Regan, who earned her J.D. degree from the New College of California School of Law, has held academic appointments at Brooklyn Law School, where she directed a mediation clinic, and at Columbia University and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she taught negotiation theory and skills.

She has also served as a consultant to colleges and universities to mediate work-related disputes, including group facilitation for departments in turmoil and one-on-one coaching for managers and staff. From 2006 to 2008 she was the director of the Simon Wiesenthal – New York Tolerance Center, an organization committed to confronting bigotry and racism and educating visitors about the Holocaust.

As associate ombudsperson, Regan will be available to assist Berkeley staff, non-Senate academics and faculty who perform management functions in problem-solving, strategies to resolve and prevent disputes, conflict analysis, coaching, mediation and group facilitation.
