Shared Services to hold bone-marrow drive for staffer’s son May 14
Staff at Campus Shared Services will hold a bone-marrow drive on Wednesday, May 14 on behalf of Baylor Fredrickson, son of CSS supervisor Robert Fredrickson. The second grader needs a bone-marrow transplant to treat an aggressive form of leukemia; he is of Japanese and German descent.

Staff at Campus Shared Services are holding a bone-marrow drive in coordination with Asian American Donor Program on Wednesday, May 14. The event is on behalf of second-grader Baylor Fredrickson, son of CSS supervisor Robert Fredrickson; it will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the CSS office, 1608 4th Street, Berkeley.

Seven-year old Baylor is in desperate need of a bone-marrow match to treat his unusual and aggressive acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). He is of mixed heritage (Japanese and German), which makes the search for a match more challenging; matches are often, though not always, tied to ethnicity.
Individuals of all heritages are encouraged to take the donor test, which involves filling out a form and providing a mouth swab for the National Bone Marrow Registry.
The CSS match drive is one of a number taking place in the Bay Area in hopes of finding a match for Baylor. Others are planned for the following times and locations:
Saturday, May 10: Albany High School, 603 Key Route Blvd. (entrance on Thousand Oaks Blvd.), 2-6 p.m.
Sunday, May 11: Mother’s Day Stroll at Heather Farm Park, 1540 March Banks Dr., Walnut Creek, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Saturday, May 17: Asian Heritage Street Celebration, Larkin and McAllister streets, San Francisco, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
