UC Berkeley tops the list of the nation’s best public universities, according to the latest Center for World University Rankings, whose measures include quality of education, alumni employment, publications and influence.

Globally, Berkeley placed No. 7 on the CWUR’s list of the 1,000 best universities. The top three universities in the world are Harvard, Stanford and MIT, according to the organization’s 2015 rankings.

Of the 10 best public universities in the United States, UCLA came in second followed in order by the University of Michigan, UC San Diego, the University of Wisconsin, UC San Francisco, the University of Texas, the University of Washington, the University of Illinois and the University of North Carolina.
