ATTENTION: Reporters covering immigration, U.S. domestic and international affairs and the 2016 presidential campaign
WHAT: A panel discussion at the University of California, Berkeley, about a new report by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine about how immigrants are integrating into U.S. society. The report, issued in September and widely covered in the news media, found that the newest waves of immigrants are assimilating into American society – across a broad range of measures – faster than previous generations. However, the report also found that undocumented immigrants and those with a precarious legal status were slower to integrate, and at a higher risk for mental illnesses.
WHEN: 3-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27
WHERE: Sproul Room, International House, 2299 Piedmont Ave., at the intersection of Piedmont and Bancroft avenues. See campus map.
